[Abstract]Approximately 30% of human gene codes for membrane are proteins, and more than 50% of drugs are targeting them. They remain among the most challenging proteins for structure determination. I will update the current status of membrane protein structural biology and discuss its applications to drug-discovery.

[Abstract]In order to develop an antibody drug which functions more effectively in our human body, it is necessary to design a humanized single-chain Fv antibody fragment. The X-ray crystallographic studies for molecular design of antibody fragment as well as novel crystallization methods will be discussed.
